In the past, many
seniors were told that past a certain age, they couldn't do much of anything
anymore and they were warehoused in a nursing home until they die. However,
with the baby boomers retired and their children heading for retirement, the
attitude towards senior capability has changed wildly. More and more people are
encouraged to enjoy their retirement years, eat better, and take into
consideration the benefits of exercise, even into the later years. Aside from

and are important for bettering one's life. Seniors have a particular set of

blood problems. However, regular exercise can strengthen bones and muscles,
making seniors more resistant to injuries from falls. This in turn can help
lengthen lifespan and prevent one of the more common causes of death. The
importance of exercise in this case is that it could be life saving!
Improve Mental
Functions
One of the most common
problems with old age: memory problems! Conditions such as Alzheimer's Disease
and memory problems can be combated using a combination of mental exercises,
such as doing crosswords, playing games and doing work such as mathematics
regularly. It can also be combated through exercise. Physical exercise gets the
blood moving, the brain stimulated, and the heart going all of which are good
for your cognitive functions. You'll feel more alert after exercising and
better able to concentrate.
Socialize
The importance of
exercise often glosses over this aspects, but socializing is important for
people of all ages. Seniors often find themselves in a rut, depressed if
they've lost many friends and family, and have a hard time getting out.
Exercise bridges that gap, allowing many people to join walking groups, gyms,
and other classes where they can no only get fit, but also get more friends.
This in turn alleviates depression, lethargy, and general feelings of
uselessness.
Gone are the days when
seniors simply sat quietly in their chairs and that's a very good thing. The
importance of exercise for anyone cannot be understated and that includes even
the eldest humans so long as they can move. Regular exercise, even gentle
exercise, carries all sorts of benefits for the participant and can really
improve the quality of life. So get your granny/grampy pants on and get out
